  Last I knew he WAS an alien! According to a discussion we had the other night though, he might still be living in a monkey house.

  At least as an alien he has ended his addiction to tearing off your face. That helps.

  that's pretty much a conversation stopper.. the watchtower denigrates the rest of christianity.

  I love the Dawkins' quote Nick. I might concur with Sab on this though that substitution of cult and fundy might not reflect the opinion of the author in this case. Though a check with Dawkins might reveal that he agrees. Or that he doesn't.

  Certainly it could be said that many fundies are cultish by many definitions. And many cults are perhaps fundamental depending on that definition. Still, I am not sure it is entirely interchangeable.

  Mormonism and JWs are pseudo-Christian cults especially on their defective doctrine of God/Christology.

  Of course! It couldn't be that they are right and you are wrong, or that they are half-right and you are half-wrong, or that both of you are right, or both wrong, now could it?

  It is amazing the amount of subjective self-serving judgementalism can be delivered as 'objective fact' when we are covering our ears and crying 'Na,na,na,na,nah' while interpreting everything to fit our world-view. Jesus! [And I don't mean Jesus literally of course, just as a cuss word.]

  After careful consideration of this thread, OTWO, I have been forced to accept my belief in the IPU - well for today only. I have altered my avatar on my FB account to show my loyalty. This occurred as a result of a Christian attack on my 'Darwin fish' avatar - so I converted to IPU theology for the day. He and others seem to want me to be 'faithful', to believe in the unsee-able, the untouchable, the unbelievable. So I choose IPU.

  Thank you brother OTWO for you kindness in stirring my love from beneath the surface for the IPU. I know the IPU is LOVE personified. Ra-men! Opps, old pastafarian regimes are displaying.

  May we all be unified in the UNICORN!

  Lot's of good advice. I know it is tough. I am sorry you have to deal with that.

  That said, one short piece of advice, very hard to apply when you hurt:

  Be the better person. Elevate yourself above their pettiness. Doing so will have the greater reward.

  Seems like an odd and controversial topic to initiate if that is the case. If you don't want to know what others think, why ask? Wow!

  And the title would seem to invite those who are likely supporters of the science of the universe to comment, especially if they accept;

  atheism

  You aim a sideways insult at those who are non-theists, then say you don't want to discuss it [your word argue] with them. Seems like a cowards kick to me.
